About the Author

Storytelling has always been the language of my heart. As a fifth grade kid, I wondered what it might be like to live in Bible times–the time of the Exodus especially. A story quickly took shape in my mind and the Fire by Night series was born.

And then I grew up. My middle and high school years were not easy. I had no special talents. I was not athletic or musically gifted. I was not popular or cool and I could never hope to be. Many of the friends I did have mocked my faith and rolled their eyes if I ever mentioned the name of Jesus. My Savior proved Himself to me in those years, and because of Him I never walked alone. Still, the pressures and pain of teenage-hood drowned my passion for writing. The memory of Fire by Night was lost, and for nearly a decade I gave it not a single thought.

But I have learned that nothing is lost to God. Upon graduating high school, I begged God to show me what He wanted me to do with my life. I had long ago given up the path to college because I wanted to be an Amazon missionary–this is where, if you knew me, you would laugh!–but the Lord soon revealed to me that this was not His course for my life. It was in that season of seeking Him that He rekindled my joy for writing and reminded me of that day long ago when Fire by Night first came to mind. I got to work and have not given up since!

Currently, I am raising my two children and serving in my church, where my husband is the youth pastor. I am still writing the Fire by Night series (seven books in total) and await the right time and opportunity for publication.

My dream is for teens to read these books and discover the Living God who reaches for each one of us. He has revealed Himself to us through His Word, the Bible, and it is my life’s ambition to illustrate the truths in those pages through storytelling.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
